Stepping Up for Wellbeing: How Our Teams Moved More for Mental Health

Back in October, we marked World Mental Health Day with a focus on the importance of both mental and physical wellbeing. As part of the day’s activities, we hosted a ‘Tea and Talk’ check-in and launched our very own week-long fitness initiative: the #MoveMoreForMentalHealth challenge.

Three teams, led by captains Roya, Katie, and Gillian, competed to log the most minutes exercised. With plenty of team spirit and a little healthy competition, the challenge encouraged everyone to take time out for their mental health while staying active.

The results were incredible, with participation and enthusiasm shining through. At our Quarterly Review, we were thrilled to announce the winning team and celebrate the efforts of everyone involved.

The Winning team; Bryn, Adam, Andy, Mariola and Roya (missing from the pic)!

This initiative wasn’t just about competition; it was about raising awareness of the critical connection between mental and physical health. Here are some key reasons why we believe this matters:

1.1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem every year, meaning a friend, colleague, or loved one might be going through it right now.

2.792 million people are affected by mental health issues worldwide.

3.1 in 6 working-age adults experience symptoms of mental ill-health.

4.In the UK, mental illness is the second largest single source of the disease burden.

While the #MoveMoreForMentalHealth challenge has ended, we’ve our thinking caps on for our next activity. Got a fun, energising, and team-building idea? Share your suggestions, and help us make our next initiative just as impactful.
