At Head Resourcing, we believe that true success comes from supporting every aspect of our team’s wellbeing. This May, we’re excited to share the initiatives we’re running to promote both mental and physical health, while also giving back to our wider community through supporting SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health).

Edinburgh Half Marathon & Hairy Haggis Relay: Running for a Cause

We’re proud to have one of our colleagues taking on the Edinburgh Half Marathon, a renowned event with a fast, flat route that attracts thousands of runners each year. In addition, four team members are joining forces for the Hairy Haggis Team Relay, part of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival. This unique relay splits the marathon distance into four legs, each offering a scenic and challenging route through Edinburgh and East Lothian and we’ll be there to cheer them on!

Both teams are running in support of SAMH, Scotland’s national mental health charity. SAMH has been at the forefront of mental health support for over a century, operating more than 70 services across Scotland and leading vital campaigns to improve mental health literacy, access to support, and community wellbeing. By fundraising for SAMH, our runners are helping to provide life-changing resources, including barrier-free walk-in support hubs and suicide prevention initiatives.

Move More for May: Prioritising Physical Activity Through Team Competition

Throughout May, we’re encouraging everyone to join our ‘Move More for May’ challenge. Building on previous challenges our team will compete in groups to track the number of minutes they spend moving each day. Whether it’s walking, cycling, yoga, or simply taking the stairs, every minute of movement counts!

Research shows that regular physical activity not only improves physical health but also reduces stress, anxiety, and depression, helping us all to feel our best. With this challenge, we hope to motivate everyone to get moving, support each other, and have a little fun along the way, with a few prizes up for grabs!

Tea and Talk: Fostering Connection During Mental Health Awareness Week

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week (12–18 May 2025), with its theme of ‘community’, we’re hosting a special ‘Tea and Talk’ session. This is a safe, informal space where colleagues can share how they’re feeling, discuss coping strategies, and simply listen to one another. By making time to connect, we’re hoping to continue building a supportive environment where everyone feels heard and valued.

“Being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our mental health and wellbeing. We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that remind us, we are not alone.”

Mental Health Foundation

Thank you to everyone across Head Resourcing who is taking part, whether you’re running, moving more, or joining our Tea and Talk. Together, we’re making a real difference for ourselves, our colleagues, and our community.
